Frequently Asked Questions

Buying a Picture

My picture has not arrived?

It does not arrive, it's an instant download from the web page! We only sell digital images. To retrieve your order navigate to the 'buy' section of the website, click the 'download' button (top right-hand corner of photo-sales panel), enter the email address you used when purchasing the image(s), click the download button beneath each picture to have the images sent to you instantly.

Can I add pictures from different galleries to my shopping basket?

Yes, if they are by the same photographer. As long as you keep the browser window open it will be operational and you can add images from any of the events/galleries. You cannot add pictures by different photographers to the same basket. If you want pictures from two photographers you will need to check out twice - once for each photographer.

How secure is the card payment system?

Very secure. Our payment provider PayPal is used by thousands of businesses and millions of customers globally. They provide a secure, fast, no-hassle transaction system and there is no need for you to register with them.

Can I pay by other methods?

We only take online payments via PayPal.

I'm not from the U.K. Can I pay in other currencies?

Yes. We presently take transactions in Pounds Sterling, U.S. & Canadian Dollars, Yen, and Euros. You can choose which currency to use when you reach the PayPal payment page.

Can I return a picture for a refund?

No, a digital file is a non-returnable product. Once it's been delivered you can return it and still keep it, by making multiple copies. Please see our Terms and Conditions.

I bought the wrong picture. Can I replace it with the correct one?

No, for the same reason as above. When you buy a picture we show the image thumbnail on your basket as a final check, but it's up to you to be sure you have the right picture.

Digital Files and Prints

Why can't I buy a print directly from you?

We've tried this in the past, but found more and more customers were asking for digital images. A digital service also allows us to keep the costs down and there many other advantages.

What are the advantages?

  • Lower prices
  • Quicker delivery
  • Make as many prints as you like, whenever you like
  • Share pictures more easily (e.g. by email)
  • Use the picture in more ways (e.g. home pages, screen savers, online photo galleries etc.)

Digital photography is taking over from film fast, so you may as well get used to it!

How do I get a print from the digital image?

It's easy! All High Street photo processors now produce top quality prints from digital files. Instead of taking a negative in simply give them the image on CD or any other media (memory stick, photocard etc.). To save a trip to the shops you could use one of the many website based photo-print services. These allow you to email the digital image and your prints come back in the post. Prices vary but you can find services offering 6x4" prints for as little as 5p each.

We recommend the online service provided by www.photobox.com

Can I get prints of any size from the digital file?

No, the size of print you can produce (to an acceptable quality) depends on the size of the digital file you have. Our images are designed to print at 6"x4" but are good up to 10"x8".

Why do some picture prices vary between events?

Because our 'Photo Sales' system is used by a variety of photographers at different events, they set the prices for their own images. The price of the pictures are always displayed at the top of each gallery.

Using Your Pictures

What can I do with the digital images?

As long as it's for your own personal use, and not for any commercial activity, you can use them as you wish. This might include:

  • Making online photo-albums
  • Emailing them to friends
  • Posting on Facebook or other social media sites
  • Use on your own web page
  • Use as wallpaper or screensavers on your computer
  • Making prints

Do I own the copyright?

No, the copyright and all intellectual property rights remain with the photographer. You can't use the image (whole, in part or manipulated) for any commercial purpose or for display or publication, other than on your own personal web page without the express written permission of the photographer. When you buy an image you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

Technical Troubles

The basket isn't working correctly?

Our basket, like many on the internet, uses 'cookies'. If you have cookies disabled it may cause the basket to work incorrectly. We have tried to implement the basket using other methods also, but if you are experiencing problems this is the most likely cause. Please contact us if you are unable to order your pictures and we will attempt to solve your problem or enable the manual purchase of your pictues.

When I try to download the file(s) my computer will only let me save it as a bitmap file. How do I save the jpeg version?

This is a problem with Internet Explorer on your computer. The most likely cause is that your 'Temporary Internet Files Cache' is full. Use Tools>Internet Options>General and delete the temporary internet files. This may take some time, but once it's done you should be able to save the image file as a jpeg. (If not email us and we'll try to help.)

When I go through to the PayPal payment page there is an error?

It's just possible the PayPal system has a technical problem at that time. (It's very reliable, but some technical problems can occur on every website.) Leave it a while and try again. If it's still not working please make a note of the error message and contact us immediately.
